LESS THAN CONTAINER LOAD (LCL):
With LCL sea freight, you share the container with other importers-exporters. LCL is ideal when the volume of the shipment is too low for a full container. The rates for LCL are calculated based on CBM (m3) and weight. Explect helps you calculate the tipping point for a full container load (FCL).
FULL CONTAINER LOAD (FCL):
With FCL, the entire container is for you to fill, and no other importers or exporters will use your container. The most commonly used containers are: 20ft container (33 m³ load volume), 40ft container (66 m³ load volume), and a 40ft HC-container (76 m³ load volume). In addition to the usual containers, we also offer the option of special equipment (flatracks, open toppers, platform, etc.).
ROLL-ON, ROLL-OFF (RORO):
If your goods do not fit in a container, you can use our ro/ro service. With ro/ro, the goods are loaded onto the ship without the need for a container. Goods that are often shipped using ro/ro include cars, trailers, tractors, campers, or any other type of heavy machines or equipment on wheels.
CUSTOMS CLEARANCE:
If you are importing goods from a non-EU country or exporting goods to a non-EU country, the goods must be declared to customs. For import, this is called 'customs clearance,' and for export, it is called 'export clearance.' Customs clearance is included as standard for import.
PORT HANDLING:
Port handling: Container Service Charges (CSC or THC) are the procedures that must be followed for FCL sea freight. For LCL, warehouse handling is required. Explect organizes both.
